Project - Modelling the Characters

This is my main character, who will be the one hiding, and I used the same method of modelling the body as I had done in my previous work in a different module. This time I decided to have the edge loops on the forearm to be twisted so that I could make things easier for the animation stage and so that the model looks realistic. The edge loops around the arm line up well around the arm and I modified the shape of the arm to have a more realistic form of a human arm, from the shoulders to the hand.

This the side view of the bottom half of the character and I decided to have his trousers slightly fitted, but to then flare out the bottom of the trousers to cover the shoes a little. I did this to help with the appeal of the character and also to make things easier for myself to not need socks on my character. I believe that with this character I will be able to have some accurate movements with the ankle, knees and hips which will help me to do the poses I need to for my storyboard.

I re-used the head shape from a character I made previously, so that I can save time and get my second Character finished in time as part of my plan. So, I just imported the head and then altered the positions of the vertices so that I can get my character to look like the one in my storyboard. The bad thing about this is that the topology on the face aren't very good and the edge loops don't meet up (as you can see in the image). So, I might have issues with this in the animation stage, otherwise to improve, I would make the head shape differently by searching for the best technique to use for facial modelling and to follow a tutorial on doing so.

The final model for the character came out very accurate to how I wanted my character to look and the topology of the character was made pretty well. The edge loops match up really well and connect with each other throughout the body of the character. The only thing I would try to improve on is just the edge loops around the front of the face. Overall, I'm happy with how the basic character looks and I'll be on time for the next step to be done.

This is the basic version of my second character, which I used the main character as a basis for the components of the body. I then altered the edge loops/ faces of the new character to make him more like my original design from my storyboard. This ended up being a good choice that saved me a lot f time, when creating this character. I also made a simple tie model by extruding some faces and moving some vertices to create the fold on the top. So, I was able to effectively create the basic form of my second character with the use of my first one and to just edit some of the properties to suit the design.
